Canadian Dental Care Plan Dentist East York

Making Top-Quality Care More Affordable

We understand that paying full-price for dental services can feel like a burden for many patients, especially those who do not have regular insurance. That is why our East York practice is proud to accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). Do you have questions about how you can use your benefits, or are you curious about how we can make it easier to get the top-quality care that your family deserves? Our team will be happy to answer your questions when you call us. You can also gain valuable information by reading this page.

How Does the Canadian Dental Care Plan Work?

Conversation between patient and dental team member

The CDCP is a government program designed to provide oral health benefits to households with an annual income below $90,000 and who cannot get dental insurance from other sources, such as an employer.

It can apply to a wide range of services that are often deemed medically necessary, such as checkups, cleanings, fillings, crowns, and even some types of oral surgery. It may also help to cover certain forms of sedation.

Coverage levels vary depending on your income. For example, if your household’s adjusted net income is below $70,000, you may receive 100% coverage for eligible services. Families who make more money may receive 40 – 60% coverage.

Tips for Using CDCP Benefits

The CDCP has strict requirements, so it is important that you review the qualifications before you apply. For example, you need to meet the income requirements, have filed necessary tax returns, and be ineligible for dental benefits from other sources.

Once you are approved for coverage, our team will be happy to help you take advantage of your benefits. We can:

  • Provide an accurate estimate for anything that you will owe out-of-pocket.
  • Seek preauthorization when necessary. (While most treatments are covered, certain services, such as some types of sedation, might require preauthorization.)
  • Answer your questions about how to use the CDCP in our office.

The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a wonderful provision, and our team would love to help you use it to your greatest advantage!
